Maple Syrup Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 cup plain flour, for baking
02 - ¼ cup brown sugar, packed tightly
03 - ½ cup softened salted butter

→ Topping

04 - ¾ cup packed brown sugar
05 - Pinch of table salt
06 - 1 cup pure maple syrup
07 - 2 tablespoons plain flour
08 - ½ cup chopped walnuts
09 - 2 large eggs, beaten
10 - ¼ cup salted butter

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F. Mix together flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly. Press this mixture into the bottom of a greased 8x8-inch pan. Bake for about 10 minutes, then take it out and let it cool.
02 - Put maple syrup, walnuts, and brown sugar into a pot. Bring it to a boil, then lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, add the butter, and stir it in until melted.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with salt and flour. Stir this into the maple syrup mixture. Pour it all over the baked crust. Pop it into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until fully set. Let everything cool completely before slicing into pieces.
