# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - Salt and white pepper to your liking
02 - 3 cups rice, cooked (any kind you love)
03 - 300 g broccoli florets, cleaned up and dried
04 - 1 yellow onion chopped up
05 - 15 mL peanut oil (swap for olive or veggie oil if you'd rather)
06 - 1 red bell pepper, sliced
07 - 450 g ground beef

→ Sauce

08 - 2 tablespoons cold water
09 - 1 teaspoon sesame oil, toasted
10 - 3 tablespoons brown sugar, packed tight
11 - 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
12 - 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
13 - 60 mL soy sauce
14 - 2 tablespoons cornstarch
15 - 240 mL beef broth
16 - 1 to 2 tablespoons honey

→ For Serving

17 - 3 cups cooked rice, warmed

# Instructions:

01 - Drop the cooked broccoli back into your pan. Keep it on low heat while you mix everything up. Dish it up over steaming rice and throw on your favorite toppings.
02 - Give your cornstarch and water combo another quick shake, then slowly add it to your simmering sauce. Let it bubble until it gets as thick as you like.
03 - Toss in your homemade sauce to the skillet. Let it come to a boil, then turn it down so it simmers and all the flavors come together for a few minutes.
04 - Season your ground beef however you like. Start cooking it with onions on medium-high, smashing up the meat. Drain extra fat, then slide in your bell pepper for just a minute.
05 - Pop your pan on medium, pour in the peanut oil, and swirl the broccoli around until it feels just soft—should take about 5 minutes. Scoop it out and put it aside.
06 - Grab a medium bowl. Stir together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and honey. Once your sauce simmers down later, taste it and add more honey if you want it sweeter.
07 - Pour your cornstarch and cold water into a lidded container. Shake it like crazy and stick it in the fridge or just somewhere cool until you need it.

# Notes:

01 - Need less salt? Go for low-sodium soy and broth. To pump up the flavor, make your rice with chicken bouillon. Carrots or water chestnuts are tasty add-ins.
02 - Try swapping beef with ground turkey or chicken for something lighter. Fresh or frozen broccoli both work just fine.
03 - Go wild on toppings—sprinkle green onions, peanuts, sesame seeds, crispy chow mein, or sliced almonds for some crunch.
