Spicy Crispy Green Beans (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 pound of fresh, trimmed green beans

→ Crispy Coating

02 - ¾ cup of plain flour
03 - ¼ cup of cornstarch
04 - 2 eggs, large
05 - 1 cup of buttermilk
06 - 8 ounces of crushed Panko crumbs
07 - 2 teaspoons of cajun seasoning
08 - 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
09 - 2 teaspoons of smoked paprika
10 - 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
11 - 1 teaspoon of cayenne
12 - 1 teaspoon of chili flakes
13 - 1 to 2 cups of frying oil

# Instructions:

01 - Wash and cut off both ends of the green beans. Pat them dry using paper towels.
02 - Set up a breading station with three separate trays: mix flour and cornstarch in one, beat together eggs and buttermilk in another, and stir breadcrumbs with spices in the last.
03 - Heat up some oil in a wide pan on medium-high until it’s ready for frying.
04 - Coat each green bean by dipping it into flour, dunking it in the egg mix, then rolling in breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb dip once more.
05 - Drop 6-8 green beans into the oil at a time. Cook them until they’re nice and golden, then place on a paper towel to drain.
06 - Keep frying the green beans in batches so the oil doesn’t cool down too much.
07 - Serve them hot with a sauce you like for dipping.

# Notes:

01 - Firm, fresh beans with no bruising will taste the best.
02 - No buttermilk? Combine one tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice with milk for a quick replacement.
03 - Use a slotted spoon to lift fried beans out of the oil so they don’t fall apart.
