15-minute Italian comfort food (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 1 tablespoon butter
02 - 4 cloves garlic, minced
03 - 1 pound uncooked potato gnocchi

→ Sauce Components

04 - 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
05 - 2 tablespoons julienned sun-dried tomatoes (packed in oil)
06 - 1/2 cup dry white wine (sauvignon blanc works well)
07 - 1 cup heavy whipping cream

→ Finishing Touches

08 - 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
09 - Generous handful fresh basil, thinly sliced
10 - Salt & pepper to taste

# Instructions:

01 - Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for just 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
02 - Stir in the Dijon mustard, sun-dried tomatoes, and white wine. Let this mixture simmer for about 2 minutes to reduce slightly and blend the flavors.
03 - Pour in the cream and add the uncooked gnocchi directly to the pan. Stir everything together, then cover the skillet. Reduce heat to medium and let cook for 5 minutes.
04 - Remove the lid and stir in the freshly grated parmesan cheese and sliced basil. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Test a piece of gnocchi - if it's not quite tender, give it a couple more minutes of cooking time.
05 - Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. The gnocchi is best served immediately while the sauce is creamy and warm.

# Notes:

01 - There's no need to pre-cook the gnocchi - it cooks perfectly right in the sauce.
02 - This recipe makes enough for 4 moderate portions. Consider adding garlic bread or a side salad if serving hungry people.
03 - If you prefer not to use wine, substitute chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian version).
04 - This dish is best enjoyed fresh as the sauce can separate when reheated.
