Chocolate Covered Toffee Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - Unsalted butter, room temperature - 1 cup
02 - Light brown sugar - 1 cup
03 - Large egg yolk - 1
04 - Vanilla extract - 1½ teaspoons
05 - Salt - ½ teaspoon
06 - All-purpose flour - 2¼ cups

→ Topping

07 - Milk chocolate chips - 2 cups
08 - English toffee bits (Heath brand) - ½ cup

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 9x13 baking dish with baker's spray.
02 - Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla. Mix in salt and flour until dough forms.
03 - Spread dough evenly in pan. Bake 22-25 minutes until golden brown.
04 - Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot base. Return to oven 1-2 minutes until softened. Spread melted chocolate evenly.
05 - Sprinkle with toffee bits. Cool completely before cutting.

# Notes:

01 - Metal pans give better corner pieces than glass
02 - Spray knife with cooking spray for clean cuts
03 - Check at minimum bake time for doneness
