Remove the core and skin from the apples, then slice them into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Toss them with juice from half a lemon so they don’t darken.

Heat butter in a cast-iron pan on medium until bubbly and melted all the way through.

Put the apple slices into the pan. Sprinkle them with cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar.

Cover the pan and let the apple slices cook on medium heat. Stir every now and then, and after 15 minutes, they’ll be soft and caramelized.

When the apples are soft and coated in caramel-like goodness, take them off the heat. Eat them warm as dessert or a side dish.
